I can’t find the right segment in my run on Strava
It’s likely that there will be several segments that show up as part of your activity. The segment you’re looking for will be a segment prefixed with “SDAC Virtual Race”. If you can’t find this segment as part of your activity:
- Understand why a segment may not have matched to your activity and what you can do about it, why false matches occur, and common problems in our segment matching algorithm.
- If everything checks out, try using the refresh my results tool.
I can see my segment effort but it doesn’t appear on the leaderboard
If your fastest segment effort is not appearing on the segment leaderboard, there are several things you can try:
- Activities viewable by only you or your followers will not appear on segment leaderboards. This is a privacy setting that can be controlled on an individual activity or for all activities by default.
- If you would like your activity to appear on the leaderboard, click the edit icon and set the Privacy Controls to “Everyone”.
- The activity may be flagged. You can see the flagged status of your activity in several places on the Strava website. On your Dashboard Feed, you will see the word ‘Flagged’ next to your activity title. Alternatively, if you navigate to the “Training” tab at the top of the page, then select “My Activities” you will see the flagged activities highlighted in red.
- If everything checks out, try using the refresh my results tool.
The leaderboard shows my effort from a previous year
Previous years will not be taken into account. The virtual race leaderboards on the SDAC website pull the leaderboard from this year only. From this data, all the efforts that are not within the time period of the virtual race will be filtered out. If you have had a previous faster effort this year that was before the race start date, read below at I have a previous faster effort this year that was before the virtual race start date.
My time shows up on the Strava leaderboard for this year but isn’t on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard
If you can see your effort on the Strava leaderboard, there are a few things you can do to ensure it shows up on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard:
- Ensure your most recent effort (or your quickest effort within the virtual race time frame) is showing up in the Strava segment leaderboard filtered by this year only. If you have had a previous faster effort this year that was before the race start date read below at I have a previous faster effort this year that was before the virtual race start date.
- Ensure that you are looking at the correct segment. All segments that are part of the SDAC virtual race series will be prefixed with “SDAC Virtual Race”.
- Your effort will only show up on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard if you are part of the SDAC strava club. To join the club, access the Sutherland District Athletics Club club page and tap on Join Club. Your join request will first need to be approved by the Club administrator. The join button will change to Pending until your request has been approved. Once approved, your effort will automatically show up on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard.
- Check you are looking at the correct race on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard and ensure it corresponds with the strava “Virtual Race” segment.
I have a previous faster effort this year that was before the virtual race start date
If you have a previous faster effort this year outside of the virtual race window that is stopping a more recent time from showing up in the segment leaderboard for this year (and hence being picked up in our SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard), you have two options:
- Option 1: Click on your effort in the Strava leaderboard for this year to find the activity in which you ran a faster time (outside our race window) than your more recent effort, click the edit icon for that activity and set the Privacy Controls to “Followers”. This will stop all segments you achieved in this activity from appearing in public leaderboards, thus allowing your more recent segment effort to appear for our SDAC race.
- Option 2: Run faster! If changing the privacy of your previous activity and losing any segments you achieved in that activity is not your preferred option and against your mantra, you’ll just need to run a faster time within the SDAC virtual race window. This will ensure your more recent effort takes precedence in this year’s Strava leaderboard, allowing it to show up on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard.
I still can’t see my race on the SDAC Virtual Race leaderboard!
