Our winter program includes cross country and road runs at a wide variety of venues throughout the Sutherland Shire particularly the various National Parks and trails available in the area.
The club welcomes all types of runners. Our winter series is fantastic training to obtain fitness, or compete at local level, or prepare for state events, half marathons, marathons, ultra marathons and even triathlons.

Interclub and State Events
If you are interested in state events, join as an ANSW member and participate in the Winter Series and all state events. NSW Athletics (ANSW) caters for all age groups from junior age (U12, U14, U16, U18, U20), open, 35+ up to 90+. The masters age groups (35+) are in 5 year increments (e.g. 35-39, 40-44 etc).
Sutherland District Athletics Club has won many medals at past state events, particularly in the relays. So regardless of how fast or slow you think you can go, all runners are invited to join as an ANSW member and participate in the relays and individual state events, even if you do not plan to go to nationals.
Weekly Club Runs
Alternatively, club only membership is a cheap way to keep your miles up, enjoy the local runs in the great outdoors and have social Saturday afternoon!
Casual runners are welcome to join in our Saturday club runs up to 2 times before they are required to join.
The cost to compete as a Casual runner will be $5 per event and is payable by cash on the day.
Club races are held at the same time every week unless otherwise specified on the website or in the handbook. A ‘snake’ race for the smaller kids, only about 50m, is usually held just after the 1km or 2km events.
