There are many exciting events coming up on the calendar very soon. See ANSW calendar here: https://www.nswathletics.org.au/events/list/

The Treloar Shield (1st event commenced yesterday) is a weekly track and field tournament against all athletics clubs in NSW. The competition is held over 6 rounds from October to early December with the Final to take place on 16th December.
Last year Sutherland had a team in the U16 age group reach the finals where we finished on the podium, something we would like to replicate again this year of course!

In addition, there are numerous NSW Distance Running Championships over 1500m that are standalone events throughout the season. The first of these is the 10000m Championships which will be held next Saturday 21st October. Other distance championships include the Mile, 3000m and 5000m championships.

There is also the popular NSW Milers series, which are weeknight middle distance focused events usually ranging from the 800m to 3000m with a limited selection of field events too. These are held at The Crest track a few times each season.

The NSW Throwers Club is also a popular event with the throwers in our club which generally consists of discus, shot put and hammer throw. This year, the event will be held on 5th November at Greystanes.

Another important event on the calendar is the NSW Relay Championships which consists of track events up to 1500m and most field events (jumps and throws). This year it will be held between 17-19th November at Sydney Olympic Park. The club will pay for all athletes competing in this event and will organise the entry of all teams. Expressions of interest will be opening very soon to nominate events. Stay tuned.

Towards the end of the Track and Field season are the NSW and Australian Championships which will be held in early 2024. This consists of both junior and open championships which generally is well represented by members of the club.

During the track and field season the club also intends to hold a small number of interclub events. These are open to both club members and non members. Details about this will be available soon.

Following the track and field season, is the Winter Cross Country and Road season. This takes place from April to September and includes numerous state road and cross country individual championships and relays. Also, the club holds weekly cross country and road events ranging from 1 to 10km which are targeted towards all runners ranging from the everyday community athlete to more serious runners training for State and National Championships. Details for this will come early 2024.
